Hello, I’m Janneke Kelderman,
Illustrator, collage maker & visual storyteller
Welcome to my little world of cut paper, curious characters and playful ideas.
I’m an illustrator specialising in children’s books, collage and handmade illustration.
My work starts with paper, scissors, paint, pencil and a lot of curiosity. I love creating images by hand, combining different textures, shapes and colour to build playful worlds with a sense of warmth and humour.
My illustrations often have a slightly unexpected twist — because I believe a good image can make you smile, wonder or look twice.
What I Create
I create illustrations for projects that benefit from a personal, tactile and playful visual style.
My work is especially suited to:
- Children’s books & picture books
- Editorial illustration
- Posters and prints
- Educational projects
- Packaging and products
- Campaigns and visual storytelling
- Creative and personal projects
I work primarily with analogue techniques, creating elements by hand through cutting, drawing, painting and collage. These handmade pieces are then brought together to create illustrations that feel tactile, colourful and full of character.
From Paper to Story
I love the imperfections of working by hand.
A slightly wonky line, a torn edge or an unexpected combination of shapes can give an illustration its personality. Instead of trying to make everything perfect, I like to embrace those little surprises and use them to tell a story.
Especially when working on children’s books, I enjoy creating characters and situations that feel playful, imaginative and a little bit funny — illustrations that invite children (and grown-ups) to stop, look and discover something new.

Whether you have a finished brief or just the beginning of an idea, I’d love to hear from you. Together, we can turn words and ideas into playful images with personality.
